Top Ten Tuesday | Recent eReader Additions

Posted January 29, 2019 by Bluestocking Bookworm in Discussion, Features / 13 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by the amazing Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. She totally rocks, so please drop by and say hi to her!

This week’s official topic is Top Ten Most Recent Additions to your TBR Pile… but I don’t really keep a TBR pile tracked anywhere anymore. So I slightly modified this to suit me a bit better. My topic for the week? Top Ten Most Recent Additions to my eReader – and I am going to do 5 most recent purchases and 5 most recent ARCs!

Click the titles to check out the Goodreads page!

Most Recent Purchases

If you missed my 2018 wrap up post, I spent WAY too much money on ebooks last year, so I am working on a much more limited budget in 2019. This means I have to put some serious thought into what I buy instead of going “Hey, that sounds interesting,” and click the BUY NOW button.

A Study in Honor by Claire O’Dell
This queer sci-fi Sherlock Holmes-inspired novel has been on my radar for a while, so when it went on sale I grabbed it!

City of Ghosts by J.H. Moncrieff
The Books & Tea Discord server is reading one of Moncrieff’s other works for their February book club, and I discovered the author is from my city. Which means I have to read something of hers! This was a freebie on Kobo.

Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep
“Gladiator meets Game of Thrones” was too good to pass up. So I redeemed some points to get this one on sale!

The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal
Tor is one of my top 5 publishers, and again, this book has been on my radar for a while. So it was just a matter of waiting until it was on sale to grab it. Now I need to find time to read it, because I hear it is pretty good!

Ignite the Stars by Maura Milan
I am sensing a sci-fi theme here? This one was first put on my radar last year when it was shouted about by M.K. England, author of another great 2018 sci-fi debut The Disasters. So, when it went on sale I definitely grabbed it!

Most recent ARC additions

I am super behind on my ARCs, and I am trying REALLY hard to not to request anything that doesn’t honestly spark joy when I think about reading it. But these five? All make me very joyful to think about!

The Binding by Bridget Collins (January 10)
A historical fantasy about bookbinding? SIGN. ME. UP!

The Wise and the Wicked by Rebecca Podos (May 28)
I saw this one being talked about on Twitter, so when I saw I could get it on auto-approval I was SUPER stoked!

The Shadowglass by Rin Chipeco (March 5)
I was just approved to join the blog tour for this book, which is the third installment in her amazing Bone Witch series!

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang (May 7)
I haven’t read The Kiss Quotient yet, but it was so highly praised that when I saw this was an auto-approval for me, I snagged it quick!

Missing, Presumed Dead by Emma Berquist (May 21)
A queer, YA, paranormal story about ghosts? Another one I saw hyped on Twitter that I am SO here for!

So, awesome nerds, what have you most recently added to your TBR pile? What are your most recently purchased books? If you are a book blogger, what are your most recently acquired ARCs? Comment below, and be sure to link me up to your TTT!

Stay bookish, lovelies!

  1. ooooh I also got Ignite The Stars and The Bride Test! haven’t started either, but have such high hopes 🤞 my read-next list is growing out of control so I may need to take a break from adding more books for a while though 😅

Where is my MOOD sticker when I need it?! Like, I don’t even know what to read next anymore because EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD.

  2. Great list! I really want to get my hands on a copy of The Binding and I need to read The Calculating Stars, too. I recently bought Emma Berquist’s Devils Unto Dust so if I enjoy it I’ll definitely be picking up Missing, Presumed Dead which also sounds amazing. Happy reading!

I was sure it was an error, which is why I grabbed it as soon as I saw it! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Ooooh, I love your twist on the prompt! I am so curious about Kill The Queen to be honest. My ARC pile is also sky high, so I’m trying not to make any Netgalley or Edelweiss visits for the next few weeks :))
