My Advice to Writers…

If I could grant one pearl of wisdom to aspiring writers, it would be this:

If you are not willing to do research, do one of two things:
1. Set your novel in a familiar time and place. (Like here and now)
2. Write a fantasy novel where you can make up anything you need to.

I have been more and more in the mood for working on something, and as I delve deeper, I realize that altering the world we live in for the sake of my story is a complicated thing. And I don’t want to do it halfway. I don’t want to be the author who has someone pick up their book and get disgusted because I didn’t do my research on how sulfur affects plant growth. So I am currently researching such things.

I recommend you do too, if your novel involves any such things.

Talk bookish to me!
