The Book Blogger Hop is hosted over at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Prompts last for a few days, and it introduces people to other blogs.
Another week, another prompt. I decided to load some rambly goodness on Mother’s Day to break up the monotony of reviews. So here is this week’s question!
What was the last book you re-read? Or name a book you would like to re-read.
I am going to do both.
The lure of the re-read is something I have had to fight against pretty hard. I love to re-read books, and before I discovered my library’s request system and the used book sale, I was limited by my low income to my currently owned books. So I re-read them a lot.
Then I got into e-borrowing and requesting, and buying books in batches of 50+ and paying less than what I would for 3 from the book store. So here I had this entire world of literature opened up to me. It took a while to break the habit of re-reading books because it was all I had to read.
I can’t honestly remember the last book I re-read. I think it might have been part of the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer in a desperate attempt to disassociate with the rigors of adult life. (It didn’t work, by the way) Upon re-reading Twilight, I found I had outgrown it. Bummer, since it had always been a great literary escape for me.
As for what I want to re-read? There are many. The Harry Potter series and I have not been acquainted in a while. The Tudors series by Philippa Gregory, because I want to finish it. The rest of the Prydain series, because I started it earlier this year and I want to finish it. Most of the books I want to re-read are because I want to be re-connected with how I feel reading them, or I want to see how the characters are doing. I love that feeling. Sadly, you can only read a book for the first time once.
How about you, what was the last book you re-read? Do you prefer not to re-read books?
