Beat the Backlist 2018

December 3, 2017     The Bluestocking Bookworm     Reading

Austine over at Novel Knight created this amazing challenge, and it fits so well with my blogging goals for 2018 that I just HAD to sign up! Click on the image above to go to the sign up post!

Once you sign up, you get assigned to a team randomly, and the team can earn points and stuff for the year to win prizes (open internationally!) My team is….

The Story Sorcerers! Not going to lie, I kind of wanted this one.

What is a backlist title?

Any book released prior to the current year. Since this is a 2018 challenge, books from 2017 and before are counted. And I have a ton of them.

What are my goals for Beat The Backlist?

  • I have over 200 backlisted titles on NetGalley that I would either like to purge or read. I am going to set my official goal to reduce my NetGalley total by 50 books (either by purging or by reading and reviewing them). As I am not planning on requesting many new e-ARCs in 2018, this should be doable.
  • I keep buying books from the used book sale. I would like to read 10 books that I have bought myself from the used book sale.
  • I would like to finish some series! I need to assess which ones I have started that are reasonable to finish in 2018, but I am thinking at the very least the Great Library series by Rachel Caine, and the Shades of Magic series by Victoria Schwab. These are both trilogies so nothing too intimidating.

Have you ever done Beat the Backlist? If not, will you join me this year? There are (international) prizes to be won, fun to be had, and books to be read! There is also an Instagram challenge that DOESN’T require posting every single day so I might actually be able to complete it? This is the best challenge ever, Austine!

Stay bookish, lovelies!

Talk bookish to me!

  1. I’m so glad you’re excited for the challenge! It should be a lot of fun (hopefully lol) and I’m excited for the bookstagram challenge too! ^_^

  2. Oh goodness now I don’t feel so bad! I have probably 50-60 in my NetGalley account. That’s what I’m working on, as well. Good luck on your list! I look forward to reading the reviews you post 🙂 I’m a new WordPress and Twitter follower now! Definitely going to be coming back to read more.
